C'mon guys, nobody's going to make a meal out of pistachios, almonds, walnuts, or any other nut or seed for that matter.

Great video Mike!  I don't eat many nuts and seeds as it is, but what you say in this video makes a lot of sense. Keep the sick videos coming!

  2. Amit says:

    I Couldn't agree more.

  3. Guy Chapman says:

I could listen to you rant all day.  Please keep posting videos often.  I'm getting obsessed.

Thank you so much for this video.  I experienced the same on rawfood/a fruitarian diet.  Used to shopping organic foods in a little grocery shop since 2007, I decided to go back to non-organic for a while ago.  I almost cried in the supermaket.  So chocked I was about the amount of brands selling the same "plastic"  food.  People looking grumpy, ill, not happy, tired, half asleep, simply not alive.  I couldn't believe my eyes.  And yes, unfortunately people consider me as being "a problem", having this big eating disorder.  Eating fruits and veggies AND like running… must me something wrong.  :0)  …  I introduced bread again for a while not to feel like an alien anymore… it helped to fit in again.   Two weeks ago I decided to go back to fruitarianism AND also to the little organic grocery store, because that is just who I am and what fits me best :0).
    Keep up the good work!

  9. Michael says:

Water is great, jelly can be great on occasion but not too often as it would be too much fat.

I am a strict vegan of 12+ years, eat mostly raw, and am largely fruitarian, so I appreciate everything you are doing. But there are a few things with this video that I disagree with.
First, it is wrong to say that all nuts & seeds are roasted, oiled, salted, or otherwise processed before consumption. This is true for many things, and nuts such as cashews and peanuts (actually a legume, not a nut) have to be roasted before consumption. But most of the other nuts & seeds that are eaten are not roasted…they are dried, but not cooked.
It is also not entirely correct to use apple seeds, which contain cyanide in tiny amounts, as indicative of the effects of all nuts/seeds. Cashews also have toxins in their skins, which is why they are roasted, but most other nuts and seeds are safe enough. Plus, why would plants only make their *seeds* inedible but not their leaves, stalks, or other parts? They actually *do* this–for example, broccoli naturally produces the chemical found in mustard gas. Other plants do similar things.
This is why fruitarianism is so great–plants make the fruits so that they are eaten, as a way to disperse seeds. But limiting the "do not eat me" idea to seeds only is not quite right. It also misses the fact that seeds/nuts are nutritional powerhouses–sunflower seeds being a good example, with high levels of selenium, vitamin E, and other minerals.
Using nuts & seeds may not be "pure" fruitarian, but I think they can still be used healthfully, in a raw state, and without causing undue harm to plants…or people. Especially if they help as protein and nutrient sources instead of animal products or soy.

I am a bit confused, there are recipes for almond mylk and similiar things on raw vegan webpages. One of the webpages sells whole raw macademia nuts. I thought it was part of a raw vegan diet, or even a fruitarian diet.

  12. Michael says:

Almond milk and other cooked food substitutes are just that – cooked food substitutes.
I think it was Dr. Graham who said “If it looks like pizza and tastes like pizza, you can rest assured that it will digest like pizza”.

You are beautiful. Fruitiarian for life, day one.
