Hi Michael,

Great article! I have been a heavy smoker and heavy coffee drinker for more than a decade and despite that I look great for my age but I knew it's a ticking time-bomb, so I decided to make the big change to a raw vegan diet after watching both you and freelea on youtube and I got inspired.
Today is day 2 and I feel great, don't even crave coffee and I'm mentally sharp all the time. I have an ozone cabinet at home and today after using it for an hour session, I noticed an awful smell on the towel - a definite sign of some serious detox going on and the best part is that I have had no withdrawals for caffiene or siggies, which is normally severe - causing me to relapse.
Just one question, would it be ok to include fresh fish in my diet or can it have some kind of a negative effect? Thanks!

I think I found you through a tim van orden youtube video, the one where you were running 100 miles and then the next day climbed 6,200 vertical feet up Mount Washington.
I've done triathlons and long bike races... and I was mindbombed to see you do what you do.
I've started to focus on stair climbing, as I see I have some talent for it - and I love the sport. I am playing with diet, as I've payed little to no attention to it for years since I was a vegetarian for about 7 years in my twenties. I felt great back then, as i remember.
I'll do a couple days of raw, maybe eventually a month - and see how it goes. I am quite addicted to my pizza once a week, but maybe can cut it down to 1x per month... then less, and eventually eliminate it. That is the one thing that may break me! hahha.
Best of luck to you Michael... if you visit southern Thailand - do let me know, there is a 1,256 step climb up a mountain that I do a lot - would be great to introduce you to it.
Cheers!

Hi Michael,
I happen to be a trailrunner and fruitarian most of the time. I am a certified Natural Hygienist. In all my races I only eat fruits. I remember my first 50 miles (Bear Mountain 2010) where I remembered everything I ingested: 30 Medjol dates, 7 bananas and 3 liters of water. After that race I knew my diet was the best one. I finished 3rd in my age category and 10th women. Before that I did 2 time an extreme 58k in Quebec where I finished 2nd and 3rd. Bottom line: fruits rule!
So thank you for sharing your experience, your believes, as it gives me a boost to pursuit that lifestyle (My main concern and barrier in being fully out in the fruitarianism is the social aspect.) Aside from that I am pretty proud to say that I don't know what a sport gel taste like... And I don't know what a cramp feels lilke, because I never had one!
Fruits rule!

I've just read this webpage and saw some of your youtube videos, I really appreciate all the info, advices, and sharing man, I had the intuition a fruit diet is the way to go and to see all the info that guys like yourself put out is really comforting and clarifying to the somewhat newbies in the raw fruit lifestyle. I want to thank you and all similar folks for that!

Your results are phenomenal.
I think it might be a great idea to have several raw -runners in the area come together in a race. Great joint publicity opportunity and something to work towards. Feeback appreciated if interested. We have a few great such runners here on the northeast coast
Nathan.

Do the best you can where you are now.
When you can afford organics and have the opportunity - get organics.
When you don't - get the best tasting fruit you can find.
Don't try to be perfect immediately.
Everything will fall into place in time.

Hi Michael,

Well i live in a country where i can't get organic product - It's a small island only 400K people and there is no demand for organic so farmers don't do it - or sometimes they do but they don't have a certification - just mean you don't know if they use chemicals, pesticides or others bad things...
About Fruits that's mean also a lot of them can be imported and they are not organic for sure ..Fortunately we have local orange & tomatoes in season, but for bananas, pears, apples and more it's only conventional and imported ...
Having say that i was wondering what would be the best ...try to do it with local product as much as possible and imported product as bananas - all of of that no organic or move to an other place...i say that because in the long term it could be very challenging and become a real choice...i feel sometimes after only 3 months here that it could be better to move to an other place where i could get organic food ....as bananas...
What would you do ? what will be your advice ? or anyone else

thanks

Michael, I have been looking for a vegan diet that I would be comfortable approaching. Being Hispanic, and an experienced distance runner myself, I was not really into all these other vegan diets I have seen in the past. I have, however, been looking for a change in the way I eat. With my first marathon quickly approaching, I feel now is the time to adopt a new diet, and I think Fruitarianism is the right fit for me. Plus, I love fruit! Thank you so much for your inspiration!
